Hi, I am Eva!

I have learned in my life that you never know what you are missing, until you actually have it! As I welcomed each of my children, I was able to experience both, having the comfort of a birth doula, and not having one. During the birth of my first born,  I did not have that kind of support, other than my husband who did what he could given the circumstances. It was a cold and sterile hospital birth where I felt more like a faceless patient than a mother desiring to cherish the experience of giving birth as the birth itself. My second birth was more redeeming as I had the privilege of giving birth with a midwife instead of a doctor, and had my first Christian birth doula by my side. The birth of my third child however finally felt sacred, like how it was meant to be.

Having a supporting and nurturing doula  felt sacred, like how it was meant to be.

It was not until the birth of my third, that I realized how much of an impact a birth doula has in the birth process. To have a baby in the comfort of my own home with a midwife and a doula whom I felt a close connection with and to have my husband and kids experience that with me meant everything.

I felt safe, I felt supported, I felt nurtured.

It is my desire to nurture mothers to learn to trust in their beautiful, strong bodies and to trust in birth. The moment that a baby is born is joyous, divine, and wondrous, and it is my wish for mothers and their partners to experience the birth of their babies as fully as possible. It would be an honor to have the opportunity to share this time with you. I will work to support you to birth in awareness, where you feel confident, informed, and surrounded with tender care, love and respect.

Birth just like pregnancy sets the foundation for the life of a child.

Childbirth is a common natural process. It is unique to each family and each pregnancy. Pregnancy and childbirth are a divine gift and privilege given by God. Birth under normal low risk circumstances can be safe without any intervention.

Birth is a transformative key life experience. Psalm 51 says that the Lord knows us even in our mother’s womb. Also in Psalm 139, “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.”

I accompany women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. I have received education and completed training for the doula’s role from DONA International and Hartland College, School of Midwifery. I draw on my knowledge and experience to provide emotional and spiritual support, physical comfort and, as needed, communication with the staff to make sure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions in labor. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress and help with relaxation, prayer, soothing touch, positioning and other techniques for comfort.

"A woman giving birth experiences intense labor pains in delivering her baby, yet after the child is born she quickly forgets what she went through because of the overwhelming joy of knowing that a new baby has been born into the world."
